Pregnancy Chic: My Essentials

Let’s talk pregnancy style. Luckily the days of mumus and hideous tent-like dresses are long gone. Now there are TONS of stylish pregnancy options on the market. As a style lover, I knew pregnancy would be just another fashion adventure. Today I am sharing all my essentials for looking and feeling chic throughout your pregnancy as your body changes and grows.

My Pregnancy Style Essentials

There are a few key questions I ask when selecting pregnancy style items.

  1. Is it form flattering? This is key. Look for pieces that flatter the elements of your body you want to highlight. Maybe that’s your bump, your legs, your arms, or you butt. Choose pieces accordingly.
  2. Does it stretch? Don’t buy anything that doesn’t stretch or have room to expand during pregnancy. It’s essential that the pieces you select can transition as your body grows
  3. Is it comfortable? There are have been some pieces I got that looked adorable but after an hour I was ready to rip them off my body. Comfort is so important during pregnancy and luckily you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style. There are plenty of pieces that give you both.

Bodycon Dresses

Bodycon dresses are absolutely the best during pregnancy. They are comfy and super flattering as your bump grows. I am linking some of my favorites that I have been wearing nonstop below. I have this particular one in 3 colors and wear it nonstop. I love that it’s a thicker quality materials and very soft on the skin. I bought size small for reference.

Stretchy Skirts

I have loved wearing stretchy form fitting skirts with cropped or tied up tops for a stylish pregnancy look. It’s such a chic style and really shows off the bump while still being comfortable. Rock this style with a midi leopard skirt, a bodycon stripe skirt or a plain fitted skirt. The combinations are endless. You can also create this look by adding a blouse or tee over a fitted dress.

Kimonos/Blazers

Kimonos and blazers are an excellent way to dress up all those plain bodycon dresses. I have been wearing longer cardigans, blazers and kimonos non-stop to manage the heat outdoors and the freezing office temps. This lace one kimono is my absolutely favorite.

I also loving using blazers as a way to professionalize (is that a word) simple t-shirt dresses. The best part is they don’t need to button and help create a very flattering shape with a growing belly.

I am looking forward to style my kimonos, blazers and cardigans into fall with maternity jeans and fitted tees as well as dresses and boots.

Stylish Loungewear/Workout Clothes

While I am living in dresses, my second favorite category is loungewear and comfy workout clothes. The key for me is I want my loungewear to fit my growing body AND look chic.

Nothing beats my BLANQI tank and leggings. The fabric is soft as butter and they are so flattering on my pregnant body. I can wear them for a walk or to just lounge around the house. It is the perfect support wear. (40% Aug 22nd-31st) on the maternity tank, maternity leggings and postpartum leggings using code “SUPPORT40”) SALE LINK

I am also linking a few of my favorite joggers that I have been wearing around the house. These Jockey joggers are so dang soft I want to live in them. The key to looking cute in jogger outfits outside the house is to wear them with fitted tanks or tops to accentuate the bump.

Comfortable Flats

I love my heels, but pregnancy has exacerbated my back pain so flats have been my go to. No fear, there are tons of chic flats available. Pointy toe flats and mules are my go-to for work chic looks and I save the sandals and cute sneakers for the weekend. Can’t quite give up the heels but don’t want the discomfort? Kitten heels and wedges great in between options. I am linking some of my current favorite maternity friendly shoes below including my favorites from my Summer Shein Haul.
