Vincible: The Documentary

In our 20s we’re on top of the world and nothing can stop us. We are living fast and enjoying every minute without a care in the world. We’re invincible…or, so we think. That is until cancer hits. How does that feel to have your youth ripped away from you Let’s ask one of the more than 70,000 young adults between the ages of 15 and 39 (the invincible years) who are diagnosed with cancer each year. Didn’t know they existed? Now you do.

Kayla Redig and I met on Instagram over a year and a half ago. I was going through chemo at the time and felt very alone in my battle. Finding Kayla and becoming involved in her project documenting the stories of young adults with cancer, brought me such inspiration and hope during a time of despair.

VINCIBLE is a documentary that follows 27-year-old breast cancer survivor, Kayla Redig, as she creates a voice for the 69,999 other young people who lose their youth to cancer and terminal illness each year.

Executive Producer, Redig, and her team of experts explore what needs to happen to help young adult cancer patients face an older person’s disease. In a system filled with specialty care like children’s hospitals and nursing homes, where do the young adults fit in?”

Among the many issues covered in this film, Redig and her team explore the need for a support community to assist young adults when they are diagnosed in the prime of their lives. VINCIBLE aims to raise awareness for the faceless young adult cancer demographic.

After many late night texts, emails and social media exchanges with Kayla, I finally have the opportunity to meet her in person. From CA and NC, we will meet in Toronto this weekend to interview another amazing young woman fighting her battle with terminal colon cancer. We will give her the voice to share her story and change the lives of countless other young adults with her message of hope. I am honored to be connected to this woman, my friend, my mentor and her amazing work.

Check out the VINCIBLE trailer below and  learn more at the website.  If you are able show your support for the project with a small donation or by spreading the world, it would mean the world to all of us involved.

To all my fellow young adults facing cancer, you are not alone! We are here for you.

I live right near there and would have loved to come meet you if I wasn’t going to be heading down to Florida!! Looking forward to hearing more about this film 🙂

Every time I watch the trailer I cry as well. It’s so honest and raw. I wish you had been in town. Hope you had a great trip to Floria.

Looking forward to watching this! The trailer sort of kicks up some emotions I try to tuck away since being diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2016, two weeks before giving birth to my 2nd son. Thanks for sharing!!

We are hoping to have it finished in the next 6-12 months. The final hurdle is funding for the editing.
